"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." Mother Teresa

Hi! My name is Stephanie. I am an Australian trained and accredited, dual-qualified Child and Adolescent School Counsellor and SEN Specialist committed to removing barriers to learning and improving children’s wellbeing and resilience. I have over 15 years of experience supporting children and young people in schools across Asia and Europe. I am passionate about providing therapeutic support and intervention options that are flexible and responsive. My dual training enables me to work at the intersections of mental health, social-emotional issues, challenging behaviour, and learning difficulties - conducting comprehensive assessments that look at the whole child as well as the child's context, and develop bespoke interventions that meet the individual needs of the children, families, and schools I work with.

I can provide a broad range of therapeutic support both through direct work with children experiencing social-emotional, behavioural, and/or mental health difficulties, as well as through the provision of training and consultation to school staff and families.

I am experienced in providing support and intervention for children and young people experiencing: low self-esteem, bullying, anger management problems, self harm, separation/divorce, sexual orientation/gender identity issues, social skill deficits, anxiety disorders, sadness and depression, ADHD, ASD, challenging behaviour, school refusal/absenteeism, grief and loss, and PTSD.

I am integrative in my approach, which means that I have a large toolbox of theory and therapeutic skills to draw on which enable me to develop and implement individualized interventions and treatment plans that are responsive to the needs and preferences of the young people, families, and schools I work with. As an Australian trained and accredited School Counsellor, I have found that a key strength of my background is the focus on a holistic and systemic approach to mental health. My qualification requires a background in Education and provides specific training in child protection, psychoeducational assessment, and consultation and collaboration within school systems. As a result, I am able to take a whole-school approach to issues and concerns when this is required as well as being skilled at delivering individual and small group counselling and interventions.

I also hold an additional M.Ed. in Special Education focusing on Autism, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties, and Specific Learning Difficulties in Numeracy and Literacy. I am interested in the intersections between mental health, social-emotional problems, and learning difficulties and passionate about early intervention to prevent one area of difficulty from affecting the healthy development of other areas in a child’s life. My dual training enables me to blend learning support with a therapeutic approach when impact on academic achievement forms part of the main concern.
